I was born in Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture, and during my university graduation trip to the Middle East, I was fascinated by the fine craftsmanship and shading of Arabian lamps that I encountered at a mosque. Since then, I have traveled around the world, experiencing the cultures and nature woven by the people living in each place and expressing my vision through my own unique means. After returning to Japan, I moved to Hokkaido and began producing gourd lamps in earnest, struggling to grow African gourds in the different climate. Nevertheless, I cherish the inspiration I encountered during my travels and continue to create my gourd lamps.
